That slash is in the title for a few reasons

I recently watched Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, and it got me back into Superman/Batman. I haven't read the series for awhile because it stopped making much sense after Jeph Loeb left, but it's getting (somewhat) better, due in no small part to the first annual issue, written by Joe Kelly. I believe it's a reimagining of an older story, so it's in a different timeline than the rest of the series. Hence, why Clark and Bruce don't know each other.

I don't remember much of the background because I was too enthralled with the blatant homoeroticism, but Lois and Clark are on a cruise to do some kind of story for the Daily Planet and Bruce is also there to do his womanizing playboy thing (more than any other chara
cter, it is SO WEIRD to see him without his costume. I think in part because his superhero personality and civilian personality are so different).

The whole thing reads like a romantic comedy. I'm not even kidding. It's not just a little
homoerotic and you can kind of see it if you're trying to see it. It's BLATANT. Clark and Bruce first start arguing when checking in, and then quickly realize that someone screwed up their reservations.

I'm not kidding. They have to share a room. Not like I've seen that in a billion teen shows and romantic comedies or anything. Lois is amused. I'm fairly sure they're dating or married at this point, so why she won't let him share her room, I honestly have no idea.

But it gets better.

Yes. They have to share a bed. And it looks like a twin or something. I absolutely love that Clark left his glasses on to sleep. This is the peril of not having a well thought out disguise: when the only thing separating you from Superman is a curl and glasses, what happens when you have to lose both of them?

Deadpool NotDeathstroke knows what's up.

You might ask, how can this get gayer than two men with a history of homoerotic subtext being forced to sleep in the same bed? Well...

Yes. Clark undressed Bruce. And not just with his eyes, like he usually does.

Joe Kelly=a national treasure.

The Silver Surfer is actually kind of funny

"Yeah Liz! These are the good mutants! Just ignore how rageful they all look and how Wolverine looks like he wants to rip your head off. Join us!"

Just a tip, guys...if you want to recruit someone to be in the X-Men, smiling might be more effective.

For some reason, there is nothing more hilarious to me than the Silver Surfer with a Magic Bag on his head.

There have been lots of jokes made about Tim and Connor's sexuality. I am not a slasher. I have never been a slasher. I didn't even notice homosexual subtext to Wiccan and Hulkling's relationship in Young Avengers, and they turned out to be CANONICALLY gay. But I don't see how else you can interpret Connor inviting Tim into a hot tub when he is (presumably) naked.

Slashy Fun

I've seen this panel a few times, and each time I, like everyone else, thought that for some reason Tony's arm was around Cap's waist. And my response was somewhere between "Really? Really?" and "Oh comics, don't ever change." But I'm now pretty sure that Cap's hand is on his hip and the juxtaposition of Tony and the hand is just very unfortunate. Even without the hand though, look how CLOSE Tony and Cap are. Tony's pressed right up against him. Even without the hand, this is still pretty slashy. I kind of like the respective expressions on their faces. Tony's all like "GRRRRRRARGH" and Cap's just kind of chillin'.

The first comics I ever read were Marvel, and then I went on a Marvel kick for awhile. Recently I started reading DC, and now I think I know more about DC characters than Marvel. Which is why when I saw these two Young Avengers (Iron Lad and Patriot) my first thoughts were "Atom! And Deathstroke!" Then I remembered that I was reading Marvel and I was sad that Deathstroke couldn't be in it, and then I realized that these two didn't look anything like Atom or Deathstroke.

This is a thing about me, but sometimes I just get obsessive about a certain character, even if I hadn't read anything about them. Nick Fury is one (I've only seen him in Cable/Deadpool, and that was very brief) and Slade is another one. I get excited when he shows up.

Well, that's enough Young Avengers.

Context? CONTEXT IS FOR LOSERS!

More Canary Homoeroticism!

Okay, let's talk about what they're SUPPOSED to be doing here. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be fighting. But as to what it actually LOOKS like, I'm not too sure. Slam dancing? Random attack of narcolepsy? Interpretive dance?

I can't remember this woman's name, but she looks a little too happy to be that near to Canary.

Yeah, okay Canary, you're just comforting Babs after her seizure...wait, why are you staring at her lips?

Homoeroticism in Birds of Prey

I think one troper said it best when he/she said, "Interesting hand placement, Dinah!" Also, look at their faces! Yes, I guess they're both ecstatic that Oracle is still alive, but the look on their faces is very, um, post-coital.

Here, Lady Vic (I think) was attacking Black Canary and then the BOP people decided to shove the whole thing up a notch when Black Canary tackled her to the ground. Black Canary looks like she's enjoying it. When you consider the fact that she's rebuffed the advances of Bane, Joe Clone, and that douchebag from the beginning, it really makes you wonder. Which is probably what the Birds of Prey people want.

Okay, this isn't homoeroticism. BUT ISN'T THAT THE GAYEST COWBOY YOU HAVE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE? I was all set to write a post about his rippling muscles, his super tight tank top with a stallion on it, his name (Stallion) and the pretty little sashes around his waist and head. Then I noticed that he was saying "We're goin' in the back door", and the jokes just wrote themselves.
